Commercial tempo: wrong FASTag class selected
A tempo billed as a bigger goods class burns the wallet. RC category and tag class must match, not the driver’s pride.
Tempo, Nashik-bound, goods in the back. The debit looks like a heavier truck. The driver says we always paid less in cash years ago. The tag file disagrees.
The pickup / tempo is the least interesting object in this scene. The interesting objects are the NETC flag, the SBI FASTag wallet, and the tag ID. Commercial classes are a ladder. A pickup, a light goods vehicle, and a rigid truck are not the same NETC class. A lazy dealer tick on ‘goods’ can park you too high. You bleed on every plaza.
What broke at Nashik truck-heavy plazas
NH towards Nashik does not host a debate club. If the boom stays down or the SMS looks insane, treat it as a file problem. Typical roots for this case:
- Dealer selected GVW band wrong.
- Body built after RC, class never updated.
- You used a truck tag on a tempo.
- Handheld operator saw a loaded bed and punched high.
- Permit type confused with FASTag class.
Loaded vs empty does not usually retune FASTag class in the lane the way old cash arguments did. The mapped class rules.
Check status before the next booth
Open YONO. Do not start with a random Google number and do not start with a shout.
- RC unladen and GVW versus class in YONO.
- Last ten plaza amounts versus a known similar tempo.
- Photos of side body and RC for the ticket.
If MyFASTag and SBI FASTag disagree, believe neither blindly. Screenshot both. The plaza reader believes the live NETC image, which usually follows the issuer.
Raise the dispute without theatre
Fleet owners should audit class quarterly. One wrong template multiplies.
- Class correction first, refund ask second with a trip list.
- If handheld override, mention plaza and shift time.
Money returns on issuer time. It does not return because you blocked a lane. If cash was taken as well as a tag debit, keep the paper slip. That pair is how double-pay stories get taken seriously.
Do not do this in the lane
- Do not under-declare class to save toll. That is a violation.
- Do not borrow a car tag for a tempo.
- Do not fight the warden with a YouTube class chart while blocking trucks.
You still need a way through Nashik truck-heavy plazas for this one trip: the lane they assign, the handheld, or cash with a receipt. Then you leave. The repair is in YONO.
Four questions people ask after this mess
1. Who sets class, NHAI or the bank?
The issuer maps it into NETC using RC. Plaza handheld can still mis-hit a single trip.
2. Can I change class every trip?
No. Correction is a master-data change.
3. Yellow plate vs white plate?
Commercial colour is not the whole class story. Read RC category.
4. Refund automatic after fix?
Ask with a list. Do not assume.
Short note
Toll rules, class tables, and bank menus change. The official issuer app is the final word. Fastag Atka is not an NHAI office. Recharge only through your official bank or authorized app. Do not clone a tag.
At Nashik truck-heavy plazas the practical move is still the same: move the vehicle out of the live conflict line if the staff point you to a bay, then work YONO. A warden can confirm a handheld read. A warden cannot rewrite SBI FASTag KYC, cannot complete your UPI, and cannot clone a better sticker. People lose twenty minutes arguing the wrong desk.
Carry the vehicle number as printed on the RC, the tag ID on the inlay sleeve or sticker edge, and the time. Those three facts travel through every ticket. Stories about a rude horn do not. If you change phones, keep the registered mobile alive. If you sell the pickup / tempo, close the tag. If you buy a pickup / tempo, do not inherit a stranger’s wallet.
The highway will still be there after you file. The point of Fastag Atka is to give you the booth-side order: status, then money path, then dispute, then stop. Official issuer app is the final word when a menu label here drifts. Toll circulars change. We do not pretend to be the gazette.
If a stranger offers a duplicate tag, a “black to green” paid WhatsApp, or a QR that is not inside the official issuer app, walk. Recharge only through the official bank or authorized FASTag channel. Fastag Atka does not take wallet money at hello@fastagstuck.space.
Keep YONO logged in on a phone that travels with the pickup / tempo. Check status on NH towards Nashik trips the night before, not under the antenna at Nashik truck-heavy plazas. If the ledger and the plaza disagree, screenshot both clocks and file once with SBI FASTag. Repeat filings without new facts slow the same queue you want to leave.

When does a double-deduct FASTag refund actually arrive
Ticket filed. Calendar optimistic. Refunds land in the FASTag ledger on bank time, not horn time.
